How does a concrete batching plant work?
Did you know that JA Plant is South Africa’s foremost supplier of concrete batching plants? Many of our clients often ask us what this entails so we have put together this useful guide to explain everything you need to know regarding concrete batching plants.
What is a concrete batching plant?
A concrete batching plant also goes by other names:
• Batching plant
• Batch plant
• Concrete plant
Concrete batching plants are complex machinery items that create concrete after you add certain ingredients. They consist of mixers, a drum, and shafts.
What are the different types of concrete batching plants?
JA Plant can supply various concrete batching plant types, including:
• Fixed concrete batching plants
• Mobile concrete batching plants
The type of concrete batching plant you choose will depend on your needs. For instance, if you are setting up a factory, industrial site, or other permanent site that will require concrete on an ongoing basis, a regular concrete batching plant would be ideal for you. Most customers buy concrete batching plants outright, and their investment typically pays off sooner than they think.
A mobile concrete batching plant is the best option for customers who require a regular supply of concrete on site but will only be there temporarily. Mobile batching plants can easily be transported, and you can rent or buy one.
If you aren’t sure which option is best for your operational needs, contact a member of the JA Plant team, and we can advise the best solution for you.
What are the different components of concrete batching plants?
Concrete batching plants have various features and the mixer is the most important part because it creates the concrete. However, they also have other essential components, including the following:
• Conveyors
• Cement batchers
• Heater
• Cement silos
• Dust collectors
• Chiller
• Aggregate batchers
• Aggregate bins
• Concrete batching plant control panel
What are the main features of a mobile concrete batching plant?
If you are considering investing in a mobile concrete batching plant for your business, you’ll probably want to evaluate its main features first. This is understandable, and mobile batching plants have multiple features, including:
• Portability (they can be towed and moved from site to site)
• Precise and state-of-the-art measuring, weighing and mixing technology
• Flexibility (you don’t have to use them at only one site)
• Fast and simple installation on site
• Space saving (they usually take up less room than a fixed concrete batching plant, saving you valuable space on site)
• Ability to be installed on a flat cement floor
• Usually no permission is required to install a mobile batching plant (unlike fixed ones that sometimes require permission from the municipality, etc)
Mobile batching plants have aggregate hoppers to store the aggregate, and an aggregate weighing conveyer, where it can measure out the required amount of material. They also have high-tech concrete mixers which are just as effective as fixed concrete batching units at mixing cement.
Mobile plants typically have their wheels and axles at the back and there is a towing pin in the front for easy transport.
