Looking into getting a batching plant for your construction Project? If so, you’ve probably already conducted some research as to the best batching plant for your needs, and you have probably already come across the terms static and mobile batching plants.

So, what are static and mobile batching plants, and what are the differences between the two? In this article, JA Plant takes you through everything you need to know about these two kinds of batching plants.

What are static batching plants?

Static batching plants are also called stationary batching plants and are widely used by large Ready Mix Concrete manufacturing facilities that require large amounts of concrete for their operations.

These well-known batching plants allow the company to produce their own concrete on-site and on an ongoing basis.

Static batching plants are more of a permanent fixture and were the original type of batching plants available. They consist of various parts, including:

  • Aggregate and cement weighing systems.
  • Screw conveyor systems.
  • Conveyor unit for the aggregate.
  • Cement & Fly ash Silos.
  • Water supply & weighing tanks.
  • Central chassis.
  • Air compressor and Air control valves.
  • Office control room with PC & printer system, (Automated system)

Most common-size mobile batching units with a 600mm wide conveyor system are used, larger plants are used to increase hourly capacities, and are ideal for facilities where large amounts of concrete are required.

Despite what many people think, stationary batching plants can be customised according to your concrete and site requirements. This is due to its flexible construction and the potential of the parts for personalisation.

Static concrete batching plants are also relatively easy to maintain and service as they have wide platforms that allow easy access to the various parts.

If you are considering a stationary batching plant, it could be the best option for you if you don’t plan on moving premises any time soon. However, if you are still on the fence about a static batching plant, feel free to contact JA Plant as we can provide you with some informative insight to help you decide.

What are mobile concrete batch plants?

As their name implies, mobile batching plants can be moved or transported and don’t require a permanent home. This makes them incredibly useful and easy to move between projects does a lot of off-site work in remote locations is required to produce concrete.

Mobile batching plants are also called portable batching plants and have a lower impact on the surrounding environment because they do not need to be installed and produce fewer carbon emissions, which makes them fantastic if your company has a green policy.

Mobile batching plants have towage, wheels, signage and chevron board with tail lights that allow them to be towed easily (Which is easily removable for storage purposes to prevent theft). However, since this is a mobile plant which is loaded with bags of cement, its output is generally lower than a static plant but you can make as much concrete as you need, resulting in less wastage.

Many business owners enjoy using mobile batching plants as they are not as tall as static ones, making them preferable if you are working on a site that has height restrictions and a smaller size sire for normal operations.

Advantages of a mobile concrete batch plant:

  • Mobile batching plants cost less than static plants

Mobile batching plants are most suited to small to medium-sized businesses that take on smaller, off-site projects. They cost less than static batching plants and require less costly maintenance and upkeep. They are also perfect if you have multiple manufacturing sites. In this case, you can simply move your mobile batching plant to where it’s needed, and set it up quickly. However, our mobile batch plant is designed in such a way that you can at any given time upgrade to a static plant with an automated system that will suit your requirements.

  • The batching plant is mobile and available for use at any site

Unlike static plants, mobile batching plants are movable. If you move premises, transporting your mobile batching plant is not a problem and is easy to do. No cranes are required to dismantle any large structures which is the case with a static plant.

  • Mobile batching plants are easy and inexpensive to install

Static batching plants can be costly and time-consuming to install which doesn’t allow freedom of mobility and is more cost-effective to change sites which makes a mobile batching plant a better option.

  • The batching plant is compact

If you operate from a site with limited space, a stationary batching plant will take up a lot of valuable space. With their compact shape and size, this is not the case with mobile batching plants.

  • Mobile batching plants are easily upgradeable and easy to refurbish.

As with all technological advances, the mobile batching plant industry is ever-changing and new technology becomes available all the time. At JA Plant, we strive to be at the forefront of the batching plant industry and often have different solutions to offer. If you want to upgrade/replace/ or refurbish your concrete batching plant, it is easier and much less costly to do so with a mobile plant than with a stationary variety.
